I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

'the roof rack' trend?

Post by .saint » March 30, 2009

anyone notice the roof rack trending popping up more and more?
im really sick of seeing more and more cars with yack racks with nothing on them? then to top it off im starting to see more and more roof racks on cars with like a 1980's/90's dyno bike or an old ass GT. wtf? why? the bikes are impractical and they look really stupid as a 'roof ornament'

i dont care if you stap down your board or toss up a bike, but put something on the roof you are going to use, not just a trendy accessory.

maybe im just being a dick, i just cant see people still rocking these fucking 1980 dynos.

I bought my Thule in 1999 because I was sick of shoving it in the hatch of my new car. Plus trunk racks always bent the bumper and pulled on the hatch/trunk with three bikes on. Bent the trunk on my Cavalier after all of the road trips.

Fuck the trend. See also: Function. They probably can't even ride either.

What if those old bikes were the car owner's first vehicle they modded? Image Don't lie to yourself, this is hot.

I'd reccomend slightly larger than 1in. Maybe 1.1-1.2inches Image I put electrical tape to avoid scratches while test fitting. Image Took me about 4 hours total including a wash and a lot of breaks. :P I'm loving it so far! Time for a test drive!

There is a bugeye wrx rollin around here slammed on te37's with a roofrack. It looks really good, I guess it depends on if he actually uses the rack or not.
