I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

When I put an OBD2 motor in my OBD1 Civic I just converted the motor to OBD1. Should be easy if your going from a B-series to another B-series. Just take all the OBD specific parts off your b18 and put it on the new motor.

On Board Diagnosis. Basically the OBD2 systems look for more things (sensors) than the OBD1 systems do, so they can control emissions better.
Some of the wiring is different; different alternator plugs (you can swap the voltage regulators though), injector wiring is backwards (colored wires to yellow, yellow to colored wires), there are 3 different distributor plugs (obd1, obd2a and obd2b), some engines have 2 O2 sensors while others have 1, plugs that hook into the ECU are different from OBD1 to OBD2, OBD2a and OBD2b ecu plugs are the same but the wiring is completely different, extra sensors for the OBD2. Most of that info is for Civic's and Integras, but it should be similar from car brand to car brand.

89-91 OBD-0
92-95 OBD-1
96-99 OBD-2a
00+ OBD-2b
i havent checked up on recent cars to see if they are still on OBD-2b or what so i just put 2000+, but that gives you an idea of when things were changed

The reason for the OBD2 (B) change was so that every single car manufacturer all had the the same diagnostics basics. Thats why OBD2 cars get plugged in at the DMV for those of you who have emissions, because pre-obd2 every manufacturer had a differant plug (gm, ford, honda, etc), now they are all using the same one.
