I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

First track run

Post by 30stones » July 01, 2006

So I suck at launching....well i can say i suck yet cuz this was my first time with the car since its been boosted but my 60ft suuuuucked.
I lowered the tire pressure to 15 lbs. My first run i didnt launch real high just cuz it was my first time i just wanted to get the feel for it.
i caught traction almost all the way through first till i hit like 6. My second and final run i launched somewhere between 4 and 45 and it seemed alright but it sucked just as much as the first run. It seemed to get out of the hole but it was just blowing tire.
My 60ft's were 2.6  the best run was a 13.8 at 106. Hopefully next time up ill do better and hopefull run a 12 but we'll see.

Good luck next run. I'll let you know when I'm going. Boob and I are putting in my GSR tranny on Monday along with my brakes. Should be at the track this Thursday.

You're on 225 drag radials too. I run around 12psi in em, launch at 4500, and do a second gear burnout.

Eric and Knauff...doesn't he get caned for a 60' that high? I was tortured over a 2.1

What kinda brake setup are you running?....i need to get some rear discs....i couldnt stop for shit. By the time i was slowed down i had to pull off the last exit thing at the end of the track.

Pre load the tranny and learn to back pedal the car and you will do fine. lower presure to about 12psi and ride that clutch like there is no tomorrow. i have pulled consistant 1.8-2.0 60fts on BFG's

Yeah i preloaded that bitch everytime. I probly could have done a better burnout but i was the last racer so the wet box or whatever was always shitty they never wetted it for me. But i just need some more practice. How do you back pedal the car? Ive heard the term befor but no ones ever explained it to me.

I know the feeling. I just got GSR fronts and EX rears with powerslots all around, Hawk pads, and Earls lines. I have to get a master cylinder yet, but I think we're going to put the Integra fronts on when we do the tranny. I couldn't stop for shit either.

My 2.4 60' was when my clutch shit the bed. haha. When I couldn't even boost because I didn't move.

I'm shooting for 1.9s this year with the traction bar. 2.00 with nothing for a traction bar got hairy. I thought I was going to leave the a-arms on the line.

do a 2nd gear burnout it will help.

it is just backing off the throttle enough to get it to hook. watch top fuelers in slowmotion and you will see the throttle plates on the blower moving as they back pedal it

Good luck next time to the track, i bet you'll get a 12 sec. slip once you get the launch dialed in. Next time you guys head down let me know, i'd like to tag along, i should have some drag radials to try out by then.
