I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

2007 Saturn Sky

Post by tommybanzai » December 22, 2005

Hello friends!!! :D I've been really looking into the Saturn Sky coming out on the showrrom floors the summer of 2006 it seems. I have been looking around and wanting a little convertible to hit the roads with in the summer time and just let the stress fly away with. I ran into this car a few months back and started taking a liking to it as time goes on. I am the kind of guy who like to get into the first of everything if i can, so I am not looking into purchasing an S2000, miata or two seater benz ($$$). It's new and definitely unique. I was just wondering what anyone else on here thinks of it. I know it's far from the theme of this site, but take that out of context for a few moments and look at the link below. Enjoy, and thanks for any input.

Some stats:
-Four-wheel independent short/long arm suspension for optimal handling and stability

-Coil-over Bilstein monotube shocks for excellent wheel control and road isolation

-Hydraulically assisted rack- and-pinion power steering for quick, responsive vehicle control

-Four-wheel disc brakes with ABS for excellent stopping performance
-Wide track width for excellent stability and superior handling

-Near 50/50 weight distribution for balanced handling feel

-Structural tunnel design and hydroformed longitudinal rails for a stiff body that results in greater vehicle responsiveness and better overall feel

-Hydraulic engine mounts for a smoother engine feel

-2.4L, 170-horsepower Ecotec engine with variable valve timing and a five-speed Aisin manual transmission with a short throw shifter

-18-inch wheels

How many miles did you put on the tc in a year? Are you going to trade that in on the Saturn?

The Sky looks nice. I'd still get teh MX5 or S2000 if I was going to buy another roadster, GM is my nemesis.

170hp just seems weak for a 2.4l but then again my SOHC 2.4 had a whopping 140

hence the reason it makes such lower tourque numbers too... ya know what i mean?
i'm not a honda motor encyclopedia, but i think the B16's are producing somewhere in the 110's in the torque department vs. this Sky is in the 150's. I can't remember the exact numbers. They are fairly comparable to my tC i think though. And the tC runs respectable for and overweight coupe (and does awesome drunken burnouts).

i'd be curious to see what honda could do if they built a 2.4 and shoved it under the hood of the civic. I could only imagine what kinda numbers it would produce. I guarantee it would dominate the competitors.

thanks for the opinon btw

taking more suggestions...come on people...how many members are on this site? 8)

I do like the S2k... but ya know, i use to run around with a guy who had the most extreme one i have ever road in or seen. And i'd always be comparing mine to the one he use to have. And i don't think i'd enjoy dropping 25-25k in extra parts to get it to my likings 8)

The MX5...isnt that the new name for the ummm...miata? They are nice cars if it is. But something about the new design of the front facia of the car doesnt appeal to me.
I have drove a maqzdaspeed miata (the turbocharged factory one) ... it was a pretty fun car.

thanks for the input!

I love this car. It's one of the best cars to come from Gm in a long time.
