I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

yo question for yall

Post by robry » August 22, 2005

sfc's car:

okay the dude just moved and hes unable to get on the internet right now, still waiting for his cable to get installed. Anyhow, hes been having an ongoing issue with his 00 civic si, stock b16a2. Its surging at idle once hes at normal temp (180~F?) if hes sitting at a stop light, between 1500 and 2500 its surging badly. He got a CEL light and had the code pulled, and autozone said it was the IACV (idle air control valve ?). My main concern is if this is a common issue or if anyone knows anything to try and prove either way weither this is a concern or not. Let me know I'm sure he'll stop by the forums from work tomorrow.

I would change it just because of the annoyance. They're not expensive...I don't think.

True. Tell him to check vacuum lines, but if that's not it...just pick up a new idle air.

Well, before picking up a new one, try cleaning the one that's on there with some brake cleaner. That's done the job for a bunch of friends of mine.

And do check the vaccuum lines for leaks. Good luck.

thanks I'll let him know. he said its only doing it while its hot, if he starts it up after it cools off, it doesn't do it, so my guess is its just the idle air. Thanks guys.
