I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain
Sorry guys dont hate me :(

Yeah man saw that shit yesterday looks so good bro you got a deal and a half on that car and those seats just wrap around you like none other. We def. need to go find a sick spot for a photoshoot. BAHT cant wait till you get the HKS SS BOV....psssttt!ttttt!!!!

^^RIP^^ My 2nd DA. it's motor is now boosted in my buddies CRX so it didn't go to waste.
Congrats on the new ride. I had an '03 GTI, but sold it when I bought a S2K. They are great cars, only issues that you will prolly have are coilpack problems (get them replaced by the dealer), MAF sensor (again VW will replace this, they have a 7 year warranty) and last but not least you may have problems with your window regulators. The original ones used were made with a plastic housing which would break, and the window would just drop down, wouldn't break, but you would not be able to roll it back up. The later '03's and up had revamped ones using metal. Your car may have had them already replaced, as well as the other items that I mentioned. The dealer would be able to check on all work done to the car before your ownership.
As far as modding your 1.8T with the HKS BOV vented to atmosphere, you may or may not have an issue with going into limp mode. Limp mode limits the boost to 5psi, you may not throw an actual CEL and your car should reset after turning the car off and restarting it. That happened to me...very rarely, but it did, up until I got my APR chip. After that, I had no problems with venting to atmosphere.
If you can dig through all the bullshit in the 1.8T forums on VWVortex there is a lot of useful info there.
I put down ~230whp and ~240ftlbs and trapped 104mph with the following mods :
APR 93 Oct chip
3" Turbo Back Exhaust (ATP down pipe, custom 3" exhaust piping w/ cutout)
AEM CAI
Alamo Autosports I/C piping (replaced pancake pipe and upper intake hose to the t/b)
ABD FMIC
I never dyno'd after getting a SAMCO TIH (turbo inlet hose) but a majority of dyno's showed ~7whp and ~8ftlbs with the addition...so before I took all the mods off and sold her, she had roughly ~240whp, and ~250ftlbs.
Needless to say I could pull plenty of "impressive" vehicles, including turbo upgraded GS-T's, modded Lightning, S2K's, LT1's, hanging with LS1's through 3rd gear, plenty of BPU EVO's and WRX's, and cannot forget the turbo LS Integra, and Greddy Turbo'd Si and GSR. I miss that car, and almost bought another, but had more love for the DB2.
YOU WILL ENJOY THE GTI! Let me know if you have any questions.
