I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

overheating

Post by symmetry » January 09, 2004

ok, I've got issues w/ my '86 Si all of a sudden overheating after 1 hour on highway. I checked and it's got plenty of antifreeze, which I had flushed 2 weeks ago. I made this same drive a week ago with no problem. The heater pushes out hot air and helps to bring temp down a little bit. The temp outside is around 20 deg. f. so it's not middle of summer. plugs/wires/cap/rotor all new and in good shape (replaced 2 weeks ago). any ideas? this is driving me nuts

Yeah thermostat. I just did mine, and my car is still overheating.

I just had an overheating issue with my girlfriend's accord.

I changed the thermostat, but it was still overheating. Felt the hoses and one hose was hot, and one was just warm. It wasn't the water pump, though. Ended up that there were three pinholes in the radiator in a goofy spot where I couldn't find them unless the bumper was off. Got a new radiator and it's fine.

if the thermostat dont fix it....check and see if the electric fan is working properly.....the temp sensor may also play a part in all of this......also, to check and see if the water pump is working properly......open the radiator cap (upon start up, NOT WHEN HOT!).......and check to see if its bubbling....if it is then the pump is fine..........HTH
