I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

History of my Civic

Post by vtecdood » January 19, 2008

Miyagi inspired me to do this thread after seeing his attempt to get a build of his car going for a magazine feature. Mine is just to show everyone the transformation of my car from when i first got it to now. I have met a lot of people through the years and made a lot of friends along the way. Here are pictures of my car from past years when I first got it and the changes the car has taken since I have owned it. I bought the car in late November of 1995 used from Bud Smail Acrua with 11,XXX miles on it. The car caught my eye because it was black had a spoiler and a moonroof, these are the 3 reasons I bought it. At the time there were no real aftermarket stuff for the car and I didnt have any interest until I picked up an issue of hotrod honda and saw a red Civic EX coupe with a Erebuni bodykit and I got hooked. The pictures I have right now are all after I started modifying it. I will have to scan pictures of the car when it was stock right when i got it and the few things I did before I got consumed by the scene.

1996-1999: Here are pics of the car when I was at World Of Wheels for the first time ever.
Image 1996-1999: The custom stereo system I had in it. If look close on the trunk lid I had the Honda logo protruding out of the panel

There were a few different stereo setups that I had but this was the final setup. Shortly after getting the stereo to this point I heard of a local guy that wanted to see my car he had just bought a Civic Ex wrecked from an auction and needed to get all the front components for it and wanted to check my Denji projectors out because he was thinking of getting a set. This is when I met Eric Starenchak.

1999-2002: Eric and I started hanging out and soon I got all wrapped up in performance and going fast at this point I knew nothing about mechanics and had no interest either my car was sounding sweet looking good and sitting on 17's hahaha. Once he got his car on the road shortly after he did a GSR swap in his Civic EX this thing ripped he was the first in our area to do any kind of "hybrid" swap. After he got it done I was sold, I wanted to go fast but my car was an automatic and this was the first swap around it still wasn't a common thing to put a B-series into a Civic. Magazines were just begining to do a how to on putting a B-series into a civic and wasnt real clear on the ins and outs yet. So doing the auto-stick conversion was a steer in the dark. I got my swap from import autosalvage here are some the pics of when we did the swap I did the rear disc changeover at this time as well.

Image Image I will post more later since I maxxed out my pic allowance.

 nice progress. i plan on doing a photo album this year thats something like this only will have it with me at meets and stuf showing the progress my car has made over the past 2 1/2 years i've had it. My car isnt ment for shows but its allways nice to see how much has been put into something especially since alot of us spend alot of our time/money to make our cars look the way they do.

Any future plans for the new year?

Thanks I got a ton more photos of when I first got it but they will have to be scanned in. I plan on doing it because it is cool to see the transformation. I think the only thing I kick myself for sometimes is changing the color. I loved the car black and the only reason it went blue was it was in the shop fully sanded down ready to get resprayed PPG triple sec black (I always hated the granada black my car looked brown in direct sunlight). A buddy of mine wrecked his Mazda MP3 it was this blue. We were clearing my intercooler piping with his car and I liked how the blue looked with the gunmetal so I took the left over paint and started doing the jambs of the car with what was left over from his. It was a spur of the moment decision I was fed up with the all black look everyone was doing it at the time and I wanted to be set apart. Looking back though I dont think I would have done it again I really liked it black. Thanks for reading I will keep updating this as I go.

Plans for the car this year is just to enjoy it. I want to get seats for it thats about it. I have always wanted recaro's and a good set of wheels I got the wheels last year and I am getting the seats this year. I am getting it retuned. Then I just want to go to meets a few shows and enjoy the car again I havent done that for a while. I look forward to hanging out this summer.
