I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain
so im hooked on this book.
so im hooked on this book.
my uncle got me this book for christmas and im hooked. sad thing is i rarely if ever read anything. i always find myself just skimming or when i start to read i get focused on something else. honestly READING IS BORING TO ME!
but i just started reading it tonight and i found myself flipping page after page. its 'dave ramsey - the total money makeover, a proven plan for financial fitness'
some of you might know it or heard the dave ramsey program on the radio (i never listened to it) basicly the radio show is about people calling up and telling dave they are in like $20,000 sometimes even $200,000 debt and he tries to help them get back on track.
well this book isnt about plans to make money its more or less opening your eyes, looking in the mirror at your financial problem (you) and getting on track. im not in a financial situation, so i though, i have 2 credit cards that i make my payments on so im fine. so i thought. i never really considered it but im making payments for what? where as i could of stuck $50 a week in the bank for that spoon wing i wanted and paid with cash instead of getting it asap and paying the extra intrest charges. i want to put my CC's aside, tear them up actually after they are $0 and quit paying the extra intrest that i dont need to pay. if i want $1500 rims i want to pay $1500 not an extra $100 not even an extra $5
basicly the book tells you about the scams the credit card, car dealerships, rent-to-own places throw on you. i read about 50 pages tonight and its already opening my eyes i cant wait to finish.
pretty much its going to help me change my lifestyle from things that i 'want' to things that i need, im going to be making a ton of sacrifices but in time it will be totally worth it. i need to set me up in a position to where when it comes time to buy things i need, i can pay with cash because i will have my debt elminated completely.
once i read the whole book ill be sure to give my feedback on it, but like i said the first 50 pages really opened my eyes hopefully by the end of it ill be setting financial plans and ill really be able to go after the major things i want, a house and to settle down with the love of my life.

Sweet. My mom's got a book sort of like that, I read a chapter or two and talks about a "latte factor," basically like how instead of going to the coffee shop every morning before work and getting a latte and a bagel you can save that $4 or 5 bucks instead of spending it, and how much money you have after x amount of time saving that same amount every day. Good stuff.

Just call me Dr. Vice.
putting anything on a CC even if its only a month it is going to collect intrest. so even if im going to pay $1 more then what i should for the product thats what i want to stay away from.
my new years resolution (i made today) is to dig myself out of the debt i got myself into and STAY debt free. and with staying debt free that includes me NOT using a CC for anything because once i have something in my posession that hasnt been paid in full, then im back to square one.
+ i plan on doing a bunch of investing.

well before i moved to japan i moved in with my mom to save cash, i know thats not an option for you but i was able to pay off that entire debt in about 5 months. besides that, i would never ever take my credit cards with me in my wallet. dont have them with you and you dont have the temptation to use them. i still have 2 cards for emergency situations but i really never use them at all. only one of them is currently being used for my cell phone because the place made me give them a credit card to charge the bill to every month, that bill is paid off immediately so yeah. i vowed that after i got out of credit card debt i would never get back into it. you start realizing its really doable once you are out. i have more money in my bank accounts then i have ever had right now just because i dont have a monthly payment to a credit card, all i pay for is things i need to live, house, utilities, etc. its a really liberating feeling.
