ooo and where is the computer located if i do try it? i can remember seeing it before but now i forget where it was...
I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

p28 swap...
well i have a p28 and obd1 harness for my d16y7 when i get the turbo on. would it hurt anything if i just put the p28 in for a bit, or would everything go crazy on me? the car has a stock y7 by the way.

i personally wouldnt even recommend using a P28. i would say stick with your current ECU and get it hondata or chrome modded. but if you are going to use the P28, switching now (with a jumper) shouldnt cause any problems. you wont gain anything from it really now though either. ECU should be under passenger side carpet.nizzan1984 wrote:well i have a p28 and obd1 harness for my d16y7 when i get the turbo on. would it hurt anything if i just put the p28 in for a bit, or would everything go crazy on me? the car has a stock y7 by the way.![]()

It won't hurt anything and it should run a little better.

well, i did the swap but when i started it the car it bogged down and stalled if i pressed the gas and the cel also came on. i think the p28 is chipped so i dont know if that could cause the problem with a stock motor?

OBDII ecu's cannot be easily chippedNikku wrote:i personally wouldnt even recommend using a P28. i would say stick with your current ECU and get it hondata or chrome modded.
Your problem using the P28 ECU is that it thinks you have a Z6 motor not a Y7, There are 2 important differences.
First the Y7 has 190cc Injectors while the Z6 has 240cc injectors, so its not giving enough fuel.
Second is the IACV the Z6 uses a 2 wire plunger style valve while the Y7 uses a 3 wire rotary valve, the Z6 ecu is not able to idle your car because it cannot operate the Idle Air Control Valve.

yeah, that i know, but it can be done. but on a whole i do not condone chipping at all. chips have to be designed around your exact setup. one change, gotta reburn the chip. something like hondata, or chrome since he is going turbo is ideal. and hondata definately does obd-2 ecu's. not sure about chrome since i have never researched them but everyone at H-T says chrome is some good shits as well.Natural Aspirations wrote:OBDII ecu's cannot be easily chipped
