I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

swapped gsr questions

i swapped a b18c1 OBD2 into my OBD1 sol. this may sound like a silly question but i'm not sure if my vtec is working. everyone who has been in my car has said they don't think it is kicking in. i have no check engine light...

my 93 sol IS wired for vtec and i double checked. i also wired the knock sensor. from the diagram below it sates that the second o2 sensor is a vtec component. i have switched from a OBD2 with jumper (not wired for second o2), to the OBD1 ECU. both setups seem fine but there is no kick at 5500 RPMs for vtec.

one thing also... i hear a whistle sound when i get on the gas and i accelerate hard. does anyone know what that is???

The secondary o2 isnt a component with vtec.
Use the obd1 ecu, a p72 right?
If so your vtec is most likely working at 4400 rpm listen closely.
Did you wire in the iab? If not thats why it doesnt feel like vtec is working because that controls the butterfly's in the manifold to open up at roughly 5950 rpm.
If your not using the p72 gsr ecu then you need one or switch to a skunk2 intake mani or somthing similar.

Just going from my gut, if you can't tell if VTEC is working on a B-series, it's not working. It's usually pretty loud, especially with "airflow" mods.

its not like a b16a or itr.. vtec is soon, at roughly 4400rpm and you can barely hear it. The butterfly's activate at 5950 and people THINK its vtec.
If the butterfly's dont open then it falls on its face after 5500 but it will still rev all the way. Also he said no cel's so vtec must be working. The iab(butterfly's) doesnt have a cel and he didnt specify if he wired it in or not, i'm guessing he didnt.
