I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

Personally I have never really used or read much about Olympus SLR bodies. My first point and shoot was an olympus however and I loved it. But in my opinion, I would just go with a camera that is more well known and that alot of people use and enjoy.

My first SLR was the Canon 300D model. Which I loved to death. It tought me everything I needed to know that I know to day about taking pictures. I know you are not going to buy a camera to go out and snap shots of nature and shit, you're around cars all the time and thats what you will mainly use it for, am I right?

I would go with the 350D. My brother had the same camera. The pictures he posted in my carlisle thread are with that camera and either the 18-55 kit lens or his 75-300 lens. Which are both cheap lenses and VERY good starters. Overall I love his camera too. Its kind of small for my hands but it is sweeeeeeeet. Its very simple and easy to use, and of course the images are awesome.

But for me...nikon y0 :)

if you can get the 20d for $700 brand new, then go for it, but i don't see that happening.

the 300d and the 350d are both very good cameras. like ^mikeg, my first camera was a 300d as well and i loved it.

here is a good comparison for you:
