I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

i hate this.

Any of you guys who were members at the mumsJDM forums... i took them down! I basically deleted everything, except for the image server, and the placeholder page I made for the domain.

But that's not the point of the thread. The point is, have any of you used Joomla? It's a content management system... it's free and open source. I found a template for it I really like, but it's 34 dollars and I'm running off minimal funding. The last 3 days, I've been figuring it out, and a couple hours ago (after a motivational nap), i decided to dig into building my own template for it. It's pretty frustrating when I look at the template I really liked (called "rubicon"), and then realize how CSS intensive it is. I know some CSS, but not to that degree. I'll have to design the basics and add in things as I need them.

I don't think it will turn out too badly, though. I know I'm going to have to re-pack the template I am making 100x before I get it right.

Any of you guys into this kind of stuff?

In the end, I think I am going to stick without the forums, and just promote thejdm for anyones needs. Although I need some sort of social-networking angle for the site to be successful.

mumsJDM will feature build ups, DIY's, and "shows" of us talking about some car related news, simple DIY's and how-to's (simple for the sake of time), and then the social networking cliche that i have yet to come up with.

any ideas? no longer will mums try to tread on thejdm's stomping grounds. :P

I use Joomla, and it took me a few hours to figure out the basics. I've modded little things in the css and html codes of the template, but nothing extensive.

It's hard to start a new forum and have it actually take off...

well my forum was on the verge of taking off... then I got frustrated with another part of the site, member sign ups slowly decreased, "regulars" stopped posting, and so did I.

but this time it should be a better site, since it will all be complete when I open it back up, I'm hoping to have the first episode and diy and site running by the end of the month.

it's a lot of work i need to get done before i start my new job. It pretty much all comes down to if I can bang out the design in a week.

Time will tell I guess.

Good luck with the new mums. I know css, but I haven't messed with it in forever. Actually...I haven't done much computer-related in forever.

best guys.

honda-tech would have bashed me for my lack of css, even though most of them probably know less... just because they can.
