I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain
H23 Hybrid Build, ITS OFFICIALLL!!!
Sooo. Engine is done
Ended up putting the engine together and tearing it down 2x and countless other little stupid things we had to do that slowed us down a lil but it is running and actually started up without any problems. Will post more details and a couple more pics tomarrow but til then it's midnight and i got a project i have to do for my class thats at 8 am
Ok, So lil run down on the build and maybe some pics in the end...
Lets start with the bad then work to the good.
Problems.
Wiring: the H23 coil is located where the H22 vtec solonoid is. So the harness has the connectors failry close for the H23. The H22 has the coil back another 4 inches towards the IM. So, had to cut the harness open to pull out the coil wires to be able to run the H23 harnes. also had to do the same thing with the Vtec Solonoid switch prior to this because it was in a seperat loom going to the strut where it was capped instead of to the engine. Need to go back and put some new looms and elec tape over the wires but it is in a positiion now where it will stay til next year when i pull the engine out and put in an H22 harness.
Assembly: Every thing actualy went together fairly good with only one main problem that happened. The water Pump gasket rolled off when getting installed (rolled off inside the pump also so we couldnt see from the outisde) Needless to say we assembled the head and were ready to start and were putting fluid when it started dripping out the bottom of the timing belt cover. So everything was taken apart in order to get the water pump back off to change out the gasket. luckilly the rebuild kit i had had a water pump gasket so just took putting a new one on and being a little more careful putting it all together.
Running: So Innovative didnt get the P28 ECU done in time so the P14 was used for the initial start up and small drive down the road. Didnt go over 3k rpms but needless to say it actually runs really good. As of now the A/F is reading about 13.7-14 at idle which is a little low but nothing really worth worrying about.
So besides a few small problems everything is together and after putting in the ECU should be ready to go get tuned and find some VTAK
the engine Started up after a few seconds of getting fuel back in the lines and actually idled really smooth. Started it up again this morning and i have a small coolant leak coming from the upper radiator hose so going to replace that and get a new clamp and should be fine. When the weather warms up will take and spray the valve cover to clean it up a little but figure for now not to worried about the looks til i get a few miles on it and make sure everything is running smooth.

Hey Billy, any word on that P13 and H22 harness? Also im gonna give you back those gauges. I went on the autometer site and the OP meter needs a bunch of shit to hook up and not gonna worry about replacing the A/F guage seems how the one i have works and also like how it gives a numerical value. Also who did you know that tunes with chrome. after i get this ECU back from innovative im pretty much gonna flip out. Tired of dealing with the BS and after getting my ECU back dont plan on going back...
