I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

B20Z or B20B
I'm very interested in putting a B20 motor with a b16 transmission into my 95 civic cx. But as far as which B20 motor to go with I'm not sure. I know the B20Z makes better power and it has a slightly higher compression ratio. But is that do to the head? I have a 92 civic cx with a full LS swap, would i benefit in anyway by getting the B20B swap and using on of the extra LS heads I have? Any advice is appreciated!!!
Thanks
Thanks

The B20Z has slightly higher compression pistons, and some of them have different heads with larger valves (I don't remember if it was just the intakes or just the exhausts, or both). But I do know that the B20Z's are hard to find, and most places only sell the B20B's; even when they claim to have the B20Z they really just sell the B's. But I completely agree with munster. The B20 is just a bored out B18B (84mm vs 81mm), so it's really not worth buying a whole new engine for a little more displacement. You'd be better off just sleeving the B18B and having it bored out to 84mm and getting higher compression aftermarket pistons. Or the cheaper route of the LS/VTEC.

yeah, i purchased the 95 cx about 2 months ago, it came with factory a/c which i would like to keep. it was a one owner car, needs minor body work and its in desperate need of a heart transplant, i cant take it anymore. lol, i may do another LS swap with the SI tranny. but how hard is it really to do the ls vtec? if its not that bad i may consider that. i do have a gsr head, but its warped and needs shaved .010 and thats alot of shaving.
as far as the 92 with the LS swap its body is in shit shape but i wanna go boost!! i've learned life is better with boost and makes people happier which in turns makes them love there loved ones more.......? either way i need another motor and tranny.
I do have a d16 out of a 93 ex, would that bolt up to the d15 trans??

Here's a parts list for a reliable LS/VTEC: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbullet ... p?t=576945
And the CX transmission will bolt right up to the Z6.

So I can have a looonggg gear box with the d16z6 motor, but I know vtec would need wired in, is that a pain?? and also would the axles fit? and I would have to get a flywheel and clutch for the z6 right?
thanks for the site for the ls/vtec thats prob the best write up I think I've ever read for LS/VTEC
