I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

Drifting = Racing?

a kid that throws on an HKS exhaust, cuts his springs and tops it off with a dildo drift knob has no right calling themselves drifters. some kids do have the skill to throw their cars sideways without even touching their car but i'm not talking about those kids. i'm talking about the idiots who WATCH drifting and GO TO drifting events and TALK about drifting but stays in line more than a gay kid.

I understand what you guys are saying about the "trendy" crowd that has become from the growing interests from drifting.

How do you guys feel about this?

You're not recognizing my argument. Here you're bitching about a person labeling themselves as an active member of something they spectate. That's like me calling myself Dr. Tobias von Messerschmidt because I watch Scrubs.

The point is, how do you know they're level of involvement? Do you closely monitor the advancements of these people's driving skills?

racing:

A race is a competition of speed. The competitors in a race try to complete a given task in the shortest amount of time. Typically this involves traversing some distance, but it can be any other task involving speed

Drifting:

Drifting refers to a driving technique and to a sport based on the technique; this article deals primarily with the sport. A car is said to be drifting when the rear slip angle is greater than the front slip angle, and the front wheels are pointing in the opposite direction to the turn (e.g. car is turning left, wheels are pointed right), and the driver is controlling these factors.

strait from wikipedia.... in otherwords racing is how fast you can do it and drifting is how well you can control what your doing... im not a drifter in any way more cause i dont own a car that i can drift with but i do enjoy watching professional drifters... its an art form that for some took many years to get where they are and if you look at D1 and see who competes a good chunk of Japanese drifters have 20+ years doing it and i think thats great...
