| Post subject: | my stock cd player. **(help)** |
okay.. so today i did the whole amber bulb change in my heater controls... and i took my stock cd player (well, half of it) out... the controls are in the top part of the dash (volume, track, you know.. that stuff) and the slot where i stick the cd's is on the bottom, behind the cupholders. i just unplugged the top part (controls) and was wondering if i would need a code to get the cd player working again. i have heard that some factory cd players need a code from the dealership to get working again... is there any truth about this.. or can i just plug it back in... help/comments would be appreciated !!!! thanks, abe |

i would imagine you may need to, but don't quote me on that. an ex of mine had a 5th gen prelude and she needed to input the security code after having killed her alternator and then her battery (long story). does what you unplugged control the power to the unit as well? if so, then i'd say it'd be likely that you'll need the code. if not, then i don't think you'll have to input it when reconnected. |

Why not swing by the dealer after you plug it back in, assuming you need the code? |

as koto said, the only place that you can get the security code (aside from the previous owner) would be the dealership. they'll probably just ask you for the vin and give it to you, no biggy. |

That's definitely the best thing to do if you do need the code. Why not just plug it back in, and plan on a trip to a dealership? That way if it does work...you'll be happier. |

sfc's si has a stock si cd player, needed the code to work, luckily the old owner had it. you should be able to stop at any dealership and ask them to give you the code (you have to get it reset I believe). they'll check the vin and your registration. wouldnt be a huge ordeal |

yea when you plug it back in, it will ask for a code, otherwise it won't function at all. take out the cd player, bring it to your local honda dealer, and ask them for the code. some might give it to you, and some might ask for papers and such proving it is out of your car. just ask around at your local dealers. good luck. |
