I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

Hey computer folks out there....

Post by jdm delivery » November 06, 2010

So I've decided that i'm going to do something that I have always wanted to do, build my own gaming pc. I've been looking around at some stuff but I'm kinda lost as far as processing speed, clocking, ram, motherborad, etc. Basically everything. I want it to be able to run some newer mmo's and rpgs and stuff like that and also want to be able to play some older dos games. As far as OS's go i'm pretty much settled on XP pro, thats the best i've used for gaming. So any help that anyone can lend me would be awesome!

Win 7 is an amazing OS, as far as Microshaft goes. Intel quad cores are bad ass processors, and an ATI crossfire setup would go great with it. At least 4Gb of ram. I've always had great luck with Asus and Abit motherboards. And for gaming, make sure you get a GOOD cooling system. The shitty stock heatsinc and fan is going to kill you, if you don't want to go all out on a water cooling setup, at least get a high end heatsinc and a good fan, plus case fans. Make sure you have a fairly large power supply if you're running two video cards and a high end CPU. Also would help performance to run 2 hard drives, one smaller drive for the OS, then run everything else off 2nd HDD. SATA is the only way to go these days. If you have any questions man, LMK. Newegg and TigerDirect usually have pretty good selection and prices.

Word, no prob. What kinda budget? Honestly, I wouldn't even consider building an MMO machine for less than a grand, shits expensive, thats why I quit the whole pc gaming thing, i cant afford cars AND computers, lol.
