Post subject:  liquid lustre wax

i was at the world of wheels show yesterday and ran across this demo for 'liquid lustre wax'

non-abrasive carnauba formula automotive wax.

well i was watching the demo and the guy spraypainted a hood of a car. you tried to scrub this paint off. noway was this paint comming off. it was in there... well the dude took this wax and the paint came right off like it was nothing and the shine was just unreal. he also started dripping water on the hood saying 'most waxes bead the water up. infact that will leave watermarks and can damage the paint' then he dumped a glass of water on this hood. the water didnt bead it actually just slid right off the car leaving the surface perfectly dry. not a drip of water was on this hood. i was really impreseed. he offered 2 16oz. bottles for 20 bucks. so i purchaded.

munster asked the question how good it works on black cars. the guy said since its a non abrasive. it wont scratch or swirl. it will actually cover the swirl marks up to some extent. the guy deff. did a good job at getting the word across about the product. i couldnt pass it up.

anyone ever heard of this wax? bad/goods? im gonna try it this summer. seems like a really awesome product from what i seen. they guarantee the product and also give a 1800 to order more of the product.. if anyone is interested here is the contact info...

John: Good Luck with the product and do post results.

However, this is more of a stunt than anything and I'll tell ya why. Spray paint on the hood. Ok...that hood he has. Think about how many coats of "Lustre Wax" it has on it? Hmm, say he does 30 demo's a day, times how many days? Yeah, a lot. The wax has a cleaner property in it that is non abrasive. There is a product out there called Klasse All In One that does the same deal...
Image I think you can see the difference with only 1 pass with a buffer and some AIO over an EXTREMELY oxidized surface.

Wax beading causes water spots? Hmm, well here's a simple rule of thumb. Wax beads, paint sealants sheet. It's just their chemical formula that make them do that. However, they can also do the opposite as well (wax - sheet and sealants - bead). As far as creating water spots, the only way that usually happens is if the water has acid in it from the rain or from bad hose water, then the sun beats on it and Viola! water spots. You also accumulate small water spots from not washing often and the water hitting your dirty paint surface dries up into little spots. However, waxes WILL prevent from the spots damaging your paint...That's what wax is for, although I'd reccomend a paint sealant, which will last longer.
Image Water spots/drips are hell!

As far as sheeting off the car when he pours a glass of water over the surface, well...that's just a secret trick. Check back over my "How to Wash a Car Properly" Article and notice I mention "flooding" the surface with the hose. Well, with his 100+ coats of Lustre Wax on the hood and flooding the surface with that much water...OF COURSE it will sheet.

If you properly prep your surface by washing, claying, polishing out defects, protecting with a sealant, then topping off with a carnauba wax...Your paint will not only look amazing, it will also perform amazing. By perform, I mean, resistance to water spots and other contaminents, amazing shine after every wash, and a slick feel to it.

John: PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS AS A BASHING TOWARDS YOU. This product may work great, but I doubt it. These demo-booths grab a lot of people. Do some work on your paint with this stuff and come back here to report the results. I'm glad you got a number to call if it doesn't work out. Good Luck!

i was hoping you would reply to this one gsrstilez.

i took into consideration how amny coats of wax were on the hood before he showed the demo to me... then again with that many coats you think scrubbing it would take the paint off, atleast a little... i dunno ill try it this summer on my hood if it seems like trash it wont matter because im getting a carbon hood. ill let everyone know.

Sounds good John. Keep us posted.

Also, if I were you...It try it on one of your doors (for salt reasons) and half of your hood. See how it looks and stands up to old mother winter. That's also a good test of durability.

Good Luck and post pics!
