I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

getting a new car- what do you guys think

Post by IN2deep » June 11, 2006

Well its time for me to upgrade rides im keeping my civic as my daily and it is still a project i am going to complete, i commute about 52 miles one way to work so i got a 6th gen hatch for gas mileage and i got a great deal and i am putting it to SI trim level with an engine upgrade also, pwr windows locks mirrors, nicer interior etc and re paint- same color but just to make it slick but anyway i got an 04 black jeep rubicon, the wrangler with the factory dana 44's and air lockers, anyway ive had sporty cars always pretty much and i just wanted a jeep and ive had it over 2 years now and its time for something new/different.
So here are the choices and if you got something put it out there, im open to suggestions b/c i havent made up my mind yet.

1- an 02-04 BMW M3 - prob black but maybe the silver or white
2- S2000
3- Audi A4 but i like the 04 body style better than the new one
4- WRX

the first 3 are way in front of the WRX but its still a contender, i am going to drive them all and see what i can get each for but the M# and S2K are the front runners but what do u guys think? The downside to the M# is parts and if something happens paying to get it fixed but if i get it im getting one under fact warranty and try to extend it to cover till 100k b/c repair bills are high, My ride before the jeep was an 02 IS300 in solar yellow, so give me some opinions and the S2K im thinking white or black, white one with possibly red interior or black on black but im going tomorrw-monday to drive a new s2000 , if i go s2k i might go used or noew im going to see what the best year for motor and suspension is and it depends on the deal i find and financing options

thanks, and please im being serious im not looking to sut 35K into my civic or something like that

What is your intended use for this vehicle? From your post I concluded that you will not be using it for commuting. Please give us a relative price you are capable of. Beyond that I say that it's a great idea to get out there and test all of them, numerous times if possible, and conclude which vehicle you enjoy most.

It will not be a daily driver, i want to stay at 40k or below. I am not wanting another large project, granted i can not leave anything stock but i am going to keep the car relatively stock until i get the civic finished at least i mean some mods but I have been known to make a daily driver not so daily friendly b/c of the amount of mode i did to the car so I want it to stay relatively stock, u know some suspension mods maybe some wheels some audio, motor bolt ons, stuff like that is it for now,

I started out looking at S2K's and its about 34K new sticker and i was like i could get a nice 04 with low miles for a good deal and I got an auto trader and found an 03 M3 in there for 35 with like 35k miles black on black nice so it got me thinking, but yeah ive heard of M3's giving people problems but its not going to be my daily but if i question it i will buy something else, the downside to the s2000 to me is its kinda small, if i dont feel cramped ill probaly get it b/c i think its alot more car for the money.
