I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. The legend of DSM

Hello peeps, long time since posting. I had a pignose 240 that ss now owns. Now i own 2 dsm's and a mazda 626. So heres my story.

1st) I had a 93 civic that i traded for a run-down auto tsi. I just finished all my freemods and a td05 swap from the td04 and a second gen mani. It was moving along pretty nice and alot of people were saying even though auto it was moving to the speed of my friends 5spd. But i didnt believe... so i bought my friends 5spd hoping to restore and drive that cause it was 'ditched' by my sleep while driving friend. UNTIL my other friend was driving my auto dsm and threw the good ol' T belt on it. We pulled the head and yes crushed about 15 of the 16 valves and put some nice little dings in the pistons.

2nd) So i fix up the other dsm, making it runnable, btw this is another 91 white tsi only 5spd with a small 16g, 109k miles, other minor mods, etc... Just got the car running and took it for a ride.. It was running like shit but i got up on it into 2nd and wound out that gear till i heard an abnormal flapping noise??? Oh yea it was the hood that i forgot to tie down cause the latch was f-ed up :roll: . As i realize the situation my hood jumped into the window and crushed it, and the top of the car (aka wrapped aound the top of the car). So i drive it home only being about 2 blocks from home and start to slam high lifes :lol: . I went with out any car for about 3 days when i got a new window. So i spent the best part of 2 evenings putting the new window in, drive it for about 2 days and the latch i had hooked up recently decided to fail yet again at about 80mph. So at this point iv gone throught 2 winshileds and 2 hoods and the top of my car looked like a ford from the junkyard.

3rd) After not looking at the car and not driving for about a week, i decided to work on the car again. I bought a few things including a dp cause the previous was pinched in one point. N1 2.5"-3" cat eliminator dp, and i ended up running open dp, i liked it more. So with lack of a new window and hood, i pounded the hood back to shape and tied it down with some 8guage wire that wasnt about to break (yes yes i know ghetto :roll: ). But the car was pure rippin after this, i thought the dp was mainly the difference in power, but when i reconnected the boost guage that was previously disconnected for fear of theft reasons, i found out i was running about 18-19psi 20 spike. So i drove it for maybe a day maybe 2 trying not to spool it much until i got around to re-tuning the car back to 14psi where it was previously. Well i recieved a challenge i couldnt refuse. My friend's evo 8. Now as far as i knew the car was stock besides an exhaust system, but since im left in the dark with just about everything with this car he was running 20 psi also. But we all know 20psi in an evo is a bit higher than the stock cars performance levels. So i except. I raced once out of 2nd gear at 40 and lost by about 3 cars which isnt too bad for him running prolly around 320-350hp. Then we decided to go one more time back the other direction, so i said what ev, we start and drop, i hung right with him for about a half of a second until he pulled about 10 cars on me at once... Of coarse im kinda like wtf??? Then i look in my rear view mirror and notice the street was being filling with my oxidized coolant. At this point i said good bye to my head gasket and head studs... So i headed over to this chicks house i know when i noticed a set of head lights behind me, oh yea sure its calidonia police. They talked to me for about 5 minutes when they relaized they knew i was racing and couldnt do anything about it because they didnt see it so he let me go. I made it about 5 blocks before the car shut off and wouldnt start again. So i throw my 4 ways on, get a ride from a friend and decide to tow it in the morning with my friends truck. Then my friends end up going to a mc dee's close the where my car was so i tell them to grab my face plate, and set my alarm. They go there and see a cop next to my car (understandable considering it was still smoking like a fire and had a messed up bumper and hood and window). So this car looked like it had just been slammed into a wall at 90. So they make to turn around and go talk to the officer but do to construction had to go another block or so to do it. Within the 5 minutes TOPS it took them to turn around the tow truck came and started pulling my car. They got there and had a word with the cop and he said my car was getting towed to a local tow shop about 2 blocks from my house. So im on the phone with my friend when hes behind the tow truck when he all the sudden sayes "what the hell is that noise?? its like a screeching sound???" A sudden fear overcame me as i asked how my car was sitting on the tow truck, i replied "is it on a flat bed? or is it on the ground being pulled?" He replied "the front tires are suspended on the truck and the back is on the ground" . Well thats all good if you own a FWD car, not my AWD dsm..... He said the back end started drifting around the street and the tires were screaming when finally he stopped and stayed stopped. I emmediately got a ride to the "crimes scene" and started bitching out the cop and the redneck ass tow truck driver who didnt know a chevy from a ford.... After about an hour of desperation i got him to drop the tow charges and let me tow my own car. He agreed and left.

4th) well i have a auto dsm with a messed up top-end and a dsm with a bhg and bad studs.
Heres where the "tear-down" is. Im taking the motor and tranny out of the 5spd dsm (bhg dsm) and putting it in the auto. Currently i had the doors moved over, the hatch, new carpet, new seats (eclipse leather/clotch) with matching door panels. new head liner, new speakers and all new side panels. This is currently my project, and right now im as far as i cant get until i recieve my new hg and head studs. But even then i wont be running as much boost as i earlier was, but maybe once again i will.

1) I cant believe I read all that.

2) That sounds like a huge headache.

3) I would have blown the car up and bought a honda =)

Heh, the joy of owning a dsm. I miss mine to death. What the hell is with you Tony, I told you we should get 240's wayyy back in the day and you said you hated them, and then a year later you get a dsm. Then you were starting to get bored of your 240 so i told you that you should get a dsm with me, and you said you would never make the mistake of owning a dsm in your life, and here you are with not one, but TWO dsm's. The only thing you listened to me on was the one time I was wrong....With the damn Civic. hahaha. :roll:
