I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

My Ae86 Levin Build/Rebuild, come and join the fun!

Post by SoloTwo » September 17, 2006

So yeah I need to document my work on my rolla, so I figured what better place? So here goes.
Image Right after picking the car up down in Joliet, I was very happy at this point. Shot by toby from teh olds pimp van.

As I was on the freeway on our way to stop at Touge Factory so Toby could get some crap. I was warned that the water pump was going, but it would make it home, a 3 hour drive, no problem.

Started noticing a loud ass freaking rattling coming from the car before we got to Touge Factory. Kick ass, there goes the waterpump already. So after arriving at Touge the previous owner of the car showed up. He originally didn't wanna hear how bad it was, but after some proding I got him to listen to it. Start it up, water pump pulley is basically loose and rattling all over. So he takes it off, trys to put it back on tight. Doesn't work.
Image There it is sitting out side of Touge Factory, hood open with fan sitting on the ground. It sat here for quite a few hours, around 4 or more. Eventually we couldn't find the studs to put the pulley back on. SOOOO after waiting around forever we finally got a tow truck to come pick it up and take it 3 hours home. Finally the wonderul russian or something crazy tow truck driver came to pick it up. And he had follow us ALL the way to my house. Thank GOD that he insisted to drive exactly or 10 under the speed limit. Longest drive EVER.

But we finally made it...
Image Image Image The next day I orderd a new water pump pulley and hardware...took all of two damn weeks to get.

Here it is sitting outside my house...
Image Water pump pulley is finally in so now I can finally start working on it more and actually drive it for once.

Oh snaps...
Image Image Mods are finally rolling in and now I feel like working on it. Sadly the more I work on it the more I find wrong with it. For instance, it seems that half the car is held together solely by zip ties. ;) But thats why its more of a rebuild then anything, reversing all the half assed work. But thats what makes it fun, if it was 100% then whats the point?

First couple mods...well, one mod...er two, include a Cusco shift knob and Kics Chrono lugs's. And installed the new Version Select bumper to replace the old busted up one.
Image Image Image Hella flush? Not yet. ;)
Image I was surprised to actually see that the exhaust is polished, when I got it the exhaust was black, after some work they are lookin half way decent.
Image My new Kics lugs on my soon to be drift only RS Watanabe's. Every wheel is managed to be curbed...awesome.
Image My wonderful interior, duct tape special seat is soon to be replaced with a Recaro Profi SPG seat. The old school momo wheel will be replaced with a quick release and a concave Nardi suede wheel.
Image Image And the mostly stock high-comp red top motor. Toda Timing Belt and Cam gears are on there way. Not too many motor mods planned this year, mostly suspension. Winter of '08 the motor will be taking out and fully rebuilt with Toda parts.

Thats pretty much it for now, I'll keep on updating as things go.

I'm glad I took the "coming off the truck" pics. I was too afraid to take a picture of the russian or whatever. He was talking to me while taking the pictures, and that was rough enough. There was a very strong smell of marijuana as well when we finally arrived at Shawn's house. Point: Dude was stoned, and foreign.
