Is this a true statement, I understand it to be, but I am not 100% sure.

in 95 they sent a few thousand gsts over but they were a joke. they didnt sell very well and were called GT's not gst's

This is a true statement. The eclipses in Japan are from America. It is actually funny to see a japanese drive one to because they think they are the S#%t.

the 95-96 eclipse's came with the chrome headlights here too. so thats the same, so are the sidemarkers. only things that are different are the taillights, folding mirrors and the road flare..haha

Not quite, those tail lights are the european style ones, the first generation eclipse DID have a counterpart in Japan that I believe was a non turbo 4g63 front wheel drive only, and it had Gull Wings (No joke, there are pics of this). The third gen is a horribly fucked up GTO platform, apparently Mitsu USA decided no one would want a high rev rear wheel v6 coupe so they made it front wheel and butchered the power plant.
