Here is the car 2 years ago when i bought it. It wasn't the best setup in the world.
It was a GT42-71mm with a T6 flange, with half the exhaust housing blocked off  I tried to make it work, and ran the car around a little as it was, but it was extremely laggy and didnt seem to make much power. I will keep posting progress, as i have made a lot over the past year. |

Here is what i did, we will call it round #2 of modifications. This was still on the less-than-ideal GT42 setup. (will get some newer ones now that its 100% back together) I have replaced this turbo in this pic with a GT42-74mm (still on same turbine housing which sucks, i would change it but its gonna take extensive manifold work.) good shots of the piping i made
the fuel setup i built
the th400 setup (dont think there are any other lexus sc300's running the GM bellhousing setup, i know a lot are running the SP setup)

These pics are from last summer I ran it around for a little while, but it wasn't making the power i wanted...
still looks somewhat sleeper, too bad the fuel pump is so GD loud
the rear rims have had a turn on just about every car
lex is finally making more than 10psi. i turned up the wick to 17psi and did some testing on the street... shit feels really good. I'm running at the flashlight drags tomorrow on pump gas/17psi or so. then friday at the import event im gonna run around 28psi and some race gas... check out my super cold air intake
haha, was checking for boost leaksa little transbrake +10psi launch test

some updates: 1. got the th400 trans back in, removed the stock bellhousing and replaced it with ultrabell http://www.2jzpower.com/forums/showthread.php?t=905 2. tack welded the adapter to the header, turned out really nice. next i need to modify the xspower 4" exhaust, modify the gate flange on the header, build a dump tube for the gate. here is the xspower 4" downpipe. Really nice stuff for under $400
here is the adapter flange i had made. it is 3/4" thick, then it was milled on a angle from 3/16" to nothing to lean the turbo in towards the header. this was then welded onto the stock t4 flange on the xspower header. the exhaust manifold i am also going to brace heavily...
here is the huge xspower intercooler. I cut the front bumper today to give it more flow
sat the downpipe in there for test fitment... will need a different vband flange and may need to do some cutting to make it fit better with my setup. it's close though! much better than starting from scratch!
turbo installed. very small clearance with runner #1. for now, i ground off the casting bump 1/2 way around the compressor housing.

building the piping... this will never blow off  had to cut the compressor off and put a 90 degree... gotta love vibrant performance products... i probably just spent $500 in fabrication components
3" vibrant v-band in aluminum
its all tacked and ready to go to the tig welder
spot on
time to take it to the welder

finished the downpipe and midpipe. will finish rest of exhaust this weekend... very close clearance between runner 6... had to do some pretty exhaust cutting...
the midpipe vband
the modified manifold
last cut was a real biatch
off the car
its getting closer, still have the wiring mess to figure out, the C.O.P setup to figure out, and still waiting on the built NA head to come back. |
