I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain
After all this time.... Zero's build BEGINS!!!!
Re: After all this time.... Zero's build BEGINS!!!!
As you know out of boredom i installed my OEM hood back on and put a two washer tilt on it. for some reason even though the hood is much heavier the car felt more aero dynamic... after some thought i realized that my OEM hood had something very important that my CF hood didnt. there is a moulding that goes on the front that lines the headlights and grille. that moulding is non-existant on the CF hood and there isnt any of the holes that the OEM hood has so you can mount it in the conventional way. also since i put a small tilt with the hood the air flow is much better. basically the hood is lifted to the point where the air that travels over it no longer gets caught by the windshield wipers. Because of that, there is a vacuum created within the space of where the windshield wipers are which in turn draws air out from within the engine bay.
now, this effect is less pronounced the bigger the hood tilt is so the vacuum becomes less and less. therefore a small tilt will create a stronger vacuum displacing more air faster then the massive hood tilts ive seen. i also noticed that when i drove without a hood the car seemed faster and more aero dynamic then when i had either CF or OEM hood on with out tilt.
so for the final decision i pulled off the moulding on the OEM hood and glued it to the CF one and gave it a 3 washer tilt. its not a profound tilt which i like and it serves a purpose. with the front moulding on as well the hood no longer moves while going at freeway speed which is a big concern with CF hoods. some have the tenancy to fly up and smash the windsheild cause the latch snaps due to the vibration of the hood moving up and down due to the winds catching it. the moulding allows it to fit much more snug then before. when i get the chance ill be washing the car and snapping some pics of the setup. also ill be taking some new engine bay shots now that ive put the heatsheild back on and the CF spark plug cover.

on a whim i went to one of the local junkyards for the heck of it and found 2 gems and 2 things ive been looking for/ planning to get parts.
i cant use one of the gems technically but its rare to find and see so i had to get it. the other was completely unexpected to find and i didnt see it until i went back to the car to get something else. also something rare to find.
ill post pictures later of the stuff i got. the things i was looking for/ planning on getting was a 99-00 civic radio and a new driver side seat belt. mine doesnt retract anymore.
pics of parts!
Stock Ex radio...
OEM dark grey arm rest delete... (i think its rare cause i dont ever see them)
and last but not least.
OEM Honda 96-98 Optional Tape deck (rare cause i NEVER see them... EVER.)
final price for Tape deck, radio, Arm rest and seat belt... $35 O_O !!!

Re: After all this time.... Zero's build BEGINS!!!!
got something else today. bought a antenna block off plate. then at the same shop i found out they had a test pipe that has the JDM 2.5" opening i need for my header... because of the design i went ahead and got it. the company is called Blackworks. from what ive seen and read its a slip type where you can adjust the length to what you need. the REAL reasons i got it are as follows.
1. my OEM cat is hollowed and has a funky custom and poorly made adaption so it will fit the 2.5" collector.
2. Since the BWR is slideable i was thinking that i could take out the center piece completely and reasemble it even shorter for when i finally switch to a Japanese Spec B-pipe. thus eleminating the need for another part to buy.
ill post pics of them in a few.
