I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

can lower fron tie fuck up CV joints?

Post by Bart-EK » April 02, 2004

allright... I've changed my axles a while back and the cv joints, although used, were allright... at the same time I installed a cusco front lower tie bar...

the outer joints are allready, after like 3 months, completely F*CKED up...

is it possible, that, because the suspension cannot flex anymore when cornering, the joints have less room and therefore wear extremely much faster?

just wondering, because I'm buying another crx that doesn't have the lower tie bar... and I don't want to fuck the joints up again...

tnx

I've never heard of that before and I have had a lot of friends that have installed a front lower tie bar. Not saying its not that though.

It shouldnt affect the CVs. If your car is slammed and the axle has to ride in an awkward position most of the time, they may get screwed up. The axles are meant to ride like this:
[]--car--[]
but when you are slammed, they ride like this:
[]\car/[]
That puts undue stress on the joints.
If your car isnt slammed, the axles may just be crappy. In my car, advanced auto parts axles last about two months.

^I got bored. Can I be cool too?

well yeah she's slammed... but there are TWO crx's on this earth sporting these springs on koni yellows (2 crxs sporting these springs period :) ) and the other crx has no problems...

mine is on 15, the other on 16... that's about the only diff in suspension (yeah okay.. my bushes are dead... his have been replaced by energy suspension bushes :) ...

But THAT other car is the one I just bought... I have the front lower bar, he doesn't... I don't want to fuck up the 'new' honey within 2 months or so...
