I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain
stroked ls/vtec vs. b20 vtec
stroked ls/vtec vs. b20 vtec
alright i plan on doing a 2.0 stroked ls/vtec.
i personally have not learned all the ins and outs of a honda motor yet but with the swap and work i do on the motor that i drop in goldy i want to learn the ins and outs. my question is i want to do the 2.0l stroker kit on the ls motor. is it worth my time and money to do this or go with the b20?
i want an all motor car thats going to be pushing all she got.. i have 1 goal thats 260whp all motor. its impracticle but thats my goal. i will not stop building my car untill i hit 260whp all motor. any feedback would be great.
parts anyone reccomends... i was going to try and keep it spoon/toda just to keep the theme throughout the car. not in all area's will i be able to run these parts but im just looking for some feedback. some of you motor heads can point me in the right direction.
thanks :blang:

well stroking the LS will actually not be as good as running the B20 block because you dont have the larger bore that the B20 has (81mm as opposed to the 84mm bore), i would rather go with the B20 block with some 86 or 87mm pistons (endyn rollerwave comes to mind) with really high compression (12:1 or higher), toda spec D cams (From ericks racing), make sure you get a good block girdle, skunk2 IM or ITB's if you wanna be that gangsta, SMSP header, etc
Just call me Dr. Vice.
compression wont bother me because after the motor is dropped in the car wont be driven hardly only as a weekender. i was going ot have a rebuilt ls/vtec longblock built for me with a 14:1 compression. insanely high. i talk to you before about it temp. you shed some light on the block girdle and a few other things.
but the way you explain about the bore i might be better off going b20.

yeah, the larger bore will be better for power throughout the band and of course you could always bore it larger, but fuck, why not forget spending all that money on that and drop a k20 from a JDM ITR?
i destroy stars wrote:i dont know why im so against the K series motors. i know its the new wave and will put better numbers down but its something about the B searies that im in love with.
K-series will be more reliable because you will have to do less to get that 260whp, you can get the K27 block and put the JDM type R head on the block and work it from there
word. the K motors have to grow on me i guess when i see them they are just... bla. i want something massive. i want to be able to pop the hood and ramble off a list of insane and stupid parts. and be able to back it all up with the power. i can do that with a K series and seeing the K under the hood is pretty impressive to many. but to me its just bla.. i dont know why i would rather blow the money and build a B series instead of the K. personal opinion to me. but it is deff. something i will consider in time before i go through with the purchase.
i think another main reason is because i can afford a b20 or an ls motor at the moment and just throw that in the car for the time being till i gather the rest of the parts.

IC IC, but one piece of advice i would give you is dont look at the now with your car, look at it for the long run, with 14:1 compression, etc you will always have to run race gas and what not, and i know you mentioned that you wont be driving it that often but its something to think about, and like i mentioned earlier, you are going to spend more then the price of a k swap to get your goal and the motor will be maxed out whereas the k20 will just be getting started
i'm going to have to agree with temp on this one. a 260whp all motor b-series is attainable but at what cost? i understand that it's a personal preference, but if you do reach that hp mark, i guarantee you'll be able to go nearly no further...
*and, for the price you spend on hitting 260whp on a b-motor, who knows how far you could go with a k-motor (granted you find one cheap enough

I agree about the K.
That said, if you do decide to go B, realize stock B20 sleeves are 6mm compared to the LSs 9mm sleeves. A lot of CRVTEC dudes crack their sleeves after awhile. If you insist on getting 260 whp NA from a B, I'd start with a DART block, the biggest bore and stroke they offer (I *think* you can get 87mm bore, maybe that was Golden Eagle or Crower though, IDK.) Whichever route you pick, it's gonna take lots of cash and many headaches, especially come tuning time.
As for bling factor and being able to rattle off parts to people, seeing a K under the hood of an EK is bling enough to me, but then when you tell them it's a K24 block and RSX (or ITR) head, built internals, etc, etc, and it makes 260 whp (and you believe there's more to be had...) then they'll really be impressed. I know I would be. You ought to pick up the July issue of SCC if you haven't seen it yet.
