Hi all...

I plan on going turbo very shortly on my new 91 ef3, and I was curious as to what setups you guys out there have. I'll be running a ZC and keeping my stock bumper etc...

I really don't want to cut anything to make the setup fit. I already have to replace my bumper support and bumper b/c someone cut them up to make the FMIC fit. I'm going for a much cleaner install...In short, I want to do this RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.

So any feedback on your experiences...good or bad would help. Pics are especially appreciated! :wink:

get something small, are you running a double size radiator, or ac? if not maybe try getting a one side, back-door ic. that helps with room, if i ever re-do my old turbo setup ill have a backdoor setup because you have to ditch your windshield wiper fluid resivour with most pipe setups. dont get a huge ic, the wider it is, or taller, the more likely you'll have to cut your bumper or support to make it fit. with a d-series setup you wont need anything very big

Sleepinonacreeper is doing his turbo setup as we speak in his Bseries EF. He's doing basically the same thing...minimal hacking and keeping it clean. He's anal like dat.

I'd like to keep stock radiator sized radiator if possible. I plan on getting a fullrace traction bar, and Im not happy with the way the 1/2 sized radiator is mounted with that. Problem is, someone already cut into the lower radiator support, and removed one of the stock mounting tabs.

The intercooler I was speaking of is like 7" tall and like 6" deep. Its a little weird looking, but I think it sits perfect behind the stock bumper, without cutting anything...including the plastic fins on my bumper. Now THATS sleeper...just the way I like it.

Im not sure what sort of setup I'm going to do. I know for sure Im upgrading the rods and putting in a blockguard. I was thinking of running 2 boost settings, maybe 9-11psi street, and 15-18 psi track. Obviously I want something thats fast spooling, yet has the potential for full boost all the way to my shift point.

As far as being anal....This is my THIRD black Si hatch, yes thats right, #3. Both my previous cars were banged up in collisions b/c I was using my car as a DD. In fact...not more than 5 minutes of saying that I may sell my current Si for cheap...I got wailed by some old lady who ran a stop sign yesterday. :roll:

Needless to say I want to do things right this time.

get a jdm bumper support (lighter weight/less work) and a bacdoor intercooler. depending on which radiator you use you can fit the charge pipes in a variety of different fashions without having bumper interference.

we have assembled one now that fits behind the si-r front without cutting the grill, retaining the washer tank, and has the foglights installed.

no, just the style

go to full-race.com and check them out. it's basically a modified end tank so you can route the pipes better.

pics will be up once the wiring is done...we took the front end back down so we could have more room to work on it.

Image I found out long ago that all the SRT4 intercoolers are like this, so I just happened to know what it was, lol, otherwise I would have thought it was the brand name too.

yea no kidding...I thought It was one of those corny ass "play on words" company names. Kinda like "Bilt-right".

More like..."spelt-rong"

I suppose they leave the side pipe on for multiple pipe configurations. But what do you do with the one you're not using? Would this create a problem in the form of air in-leakage, or even a pressure drop due to an unused space with stagnant flow?

that intercooler looks stupid...and is a overkill universal intercooler that costs a arm and a leg....full race is nice but to much money for ok hand made junk.... i recomend drag turbo kits... http://www.dragturbokits.com/
