this is my opinion and opinion of many mechanics... DONT GO TO A MECHANICS SCHOOL. its a huge waste of money. just go to a tech school, they rip you off way less. also another thing is that if you go work for a company that you love right now, you will learn to dispise it. speciality is the route for your craziness in life. You will prolly like what you do for a year or two, but after working on the same car with the same problem day in and day out, you WILL want to shoot yourself in the face.

i just go to the local Adult school and take a auto class a couple nights outta the week...way cheaper and you get experiece...but i am in no way trying to pursue a career in automotive technology. im with everyone else so far...go to a tech school, my cousin went to one in arizona for 18 months, came back and within a week he had a job at Ford.....he says as long as you get ASE certified thats all that really matters.

best of luck

do not go to a school like uti, they rape you on money. 24k for a year of school? i think not. and its a fucking joke of a school. drug tests, cant have tattoos showing, your hair has to be short, its a fucking joke. and the teachers are all bitch ass and are dicks. they say they are preparing you for the real world, but i have not come across one job that wont let you have any of those going on in your life

Ok I appreciate someone having a brain on here. What school do you go to? I really dont care if I have to "keep my hair short" or "Not show any tattoos" Im a grown man I think I can deal with those rules. Besides I ve been in the military for the past 4 years Im kind of used to the whole short hair thing. Plus I have Tuition Assistance (my college is paid for). Let me know what you got...

I go to Madison Area Technical college. check out the website http://www.matcmadison.edu/auto

No restrictions on hair cuts, tatoes, dress code etc. Its a 2 year program that i come out with an Associates degree and also counts as 1 year work experience toward ASE certification. So if u work part time and go to school for 2 years by the time u graduate u have ur 2 years needed and can get ASE certified right away.

Classes are small, teachers are awesome and know thier shit. I guess it all depends on where you go. but def. avoid UTI or Ohio tech or WYOtech
