I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

Advance Auto Parts

Post by munster » January 16, 2007

I'm going to apologize in advance if anyone works there and is offended by this. If you are, please speak to your managers about a training program for employees. Here's my reasoning:

#1: I go in to get heat shrink. I needed alot so I was curious as to whether or not they had it in longer pieces. Maybe a roll or something behind the counter. So I approach the counter and ask the woman, "Do you have longer pieces of heat shrink? Maybe by the foot?" The woman replies, "What year is the car?" I say, "What the hell..." While the guy beside her loses it, and he explains all they have is the little boxes with 6" pieces. Ok, that's what I'll get then. Just hoped it would be longer. Then I hear him explaining to her what heat shrink is.

#2: Sophia was in dire need of a tune up. So I stop into Advance. (Should have learned my lesson, but our Auto Zone is full of retards too) I purchase a fuel filter, spark plug wires, plugs, cap, and rotor. I rip into it the next day. I have the rotor changed, plugs, and cap done. I go to grab the wires, and there's 8 in the box. Apparently I was charged for Civic wires, but given wires for a V8. So I just drive to one that's closer to the house, and I am told that I can't exchange them because the transaction says that I was given Civic wires. I have to go to the store I bought them at. Needless to say that something that should have taken an hour at most to complete took freakin' days because of the idiots. (it was an honest mistake with the wires, they were one number off, but douchebag in store #2 didn't think that way. I was supposed to buy another set according to him)

Look out, Napa. Here I come.

The thing that sucks is that they're all closed by the time I get off of work or I'd go there. My family has an account.

dude...i know the feeling.

i hassled every time i go into my local autoparts store....At one of the Kragen stores every time i go to get stuff...part numbers in hand...they say that stuff sucks and i should buy the "best stuff"...so i say "ok, your telling me what OE calls for isnt what i need?" .... "basically yeah".... grrrrr....

so i go to the Auto zone down the street....i see a few LowRiders parked in the parking lot...walk in and the Mexican guy with a thick accent says "aye is that your Hoonda out der?' i say "yeah" ...then i get pointed towards the APC section....

Finally i end up on the other side of town at another Kragen, I see a clean little BB4 prelude out in front back into a spot....i say to myself "THANK YOU...i hope i can get what i NEED!"....i walk in and a little asian dude is helping a customer in Spanish (being bilingual in central cali is a must...even for an asian lol)...so i look around a little bit...he comes up and is asks me if i need help..i say "yeah..im gonna do a little tune up....within 10 minutes if have my NGK v-powers,NGk wires, cap, wipers, and oil....then he follows me outside and we check out eachothers whips...and end up talking for like another 30mins about getting a swap ref'd and BAR'd in the parking lot...lol

GOD BLESS TUNERS THAT WORK AT LOCAL AUTO PART STORES!

I still tell the story about my buddy Josh with a GSR being asked if his engine was "DOHC" or "VTEC".

The guy was stubborn too, he could not be convinced that an engine could be both, because in the computer it was either/or.

You know what else grinds my gears? People at Home Depot who don't want to help you find something as soon as they fing out you're buying something for a car. Most recently I needed a 1/8th NPT union for my alky setup (which I knew they had.. somewhere..) and the first guy wouldn't help at all. Dick. I did find it after a bit of searching.

haha....what year is your car, thats good. Should make a call to the douche in store #2 and tell him you need a radiator for a 1972 VW Beetle, he'll have fun trying to find one of those being that they are air cooled.
