last tuesday or so, a friend of mine (james) called me and said he had a run for me. initially, the guy had a GSR with boltons and was EXTREMELY cocky and liked running for cash. i figured it was a new honda owner/dohc vtec owner who figured he was invincible. i said cool, we'll do it for cash friday night. with each day that passed, however, the story changed. it went from a gsr with boltons, to an EG hatch - gsr swapped with boltons. then it went from him running high 14s @ palmdale (elevated track, good for high 13s at a good track) to running a 14.2 w/ a 1.6 60ft on STREET TIRES. i knew that was bullshit, a 1.6 60ft on street tires and all, so i figured that this guy knew nothing and was lying his ass off. so friday comes and i wait...and wait...and wait. just as i'm about to leave (after waiting 2hrs), he FINALLY shows up. white 92 vx EG hatch on 13'' stockies with shit for tires. i had been trying to locate azenis the whole week as i was on my div3s with kumhos, and then he shows up with that. the run was going to be for $100, but we ended up doing it for $40 because of the tire issue (larger margin of error, whoever would spin would lose). so he pops the hood, and the motor DOES look stock. short ram, jg header, piping to a stock exhaust (probably a cutout i'm assuming). i figured i wouldn't have a problem...yea. we get to the street we're going to run on, and someone measures the 1/4. while doing so, i see him pop his hood and disconnect his filter and attach a dryer hose cold-air like attachment. i figured nothing, it won't help him that much. so i take another friend (ryan) to practice launching on these shitty tires as i don't usually run on them. i launch at about 3500 and feather, getting a decent launch. it felt pretty good considering what the tires were. so i drop ryan off and procede to line up. i made the mistake of trying to launch higher (4k) (with ryan and his weight) out of the car...so yea. james flagged it...dropped his hands...eg guy hops on me. i spin and spin because of the 4k launch, and he's immediately a car ahead. i hook and get going, with him inching away from me down the street. it wasn't a horrible loss, with him making up another car on me after the launch. i figured with his 92 being so light and him launching on me, the race was fair. i give him the cash, call it a night and go home.

so yea, i just spoke to james...seems as though eg guy is running ctr camshafts and is hondata tuned in addition to the boltons. MOTHER FUCKER LIED TO ME. i know it was only $40, but it's the principle ya know? and even then, had i gotten a better launch it would have been MUCH closer. fucking bastard...
sorry, just had to vent...
i'm just angry that he had to lie, bastard.
i've yet to see them to ask, so i don't know as of now...i'll ask around tho.
