So I recently found an 05 wrx w/ 64,500 miles that i'm am interested in. It has an uppipe, downpipe, exhaust, lowered, short throw, etc... but the car has never been tuned. The guy selling it happens to be a subaru technician. He bought the car from a kid in jersey who had blown it up because he was running it with no oil. He did a full engine rebuild on it and the rebuild has less then 1500 miles on it. he checked out the turbo too and looked just fine he said. So i'm just wondering what you guys think, if you were looking to buy a subie would you consider this buy? I posted on NASIOC and the majority of replies that i'm getting from there are saying to say away from it because its modded and that i should just buy a stock one and mod it myself. Also they seem to have a problem with the re built motor. What are your opinions? Here is what the link to my post on NASIOC http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthr ... ?t=1817763 |

I would find a stock one. Make it your own, don't start with other people's problems. If you want used shit (to stay cheapish), buy used mod-parts. |

i agree pick up a stock one, mine was modded and returned to stock and im noticing smaller things here and there it makes me wish i would have kept looking, granted i love my car but i still wish i would have found a stock one or even a new one. |

Well performance wise it has everything i wanted to do to it. style wise I would have gotten the Sti splitters and hoodscoop along with different wheels, attempt to make it close to hellaflush with some 18x9.5's Idk what i'm going to do, i'm torn to both options. Take the risk and go for it, or keep looking around for one that is more stock. |

well guys, i've came across what i think is a good deal and a good start to a fun project car. Its a 2000 Civic Si with 54,xxx miles on it. It is an R title car but that is because it was a theft recovery vehicle. The car has a full turbo set-up on it right now with a Garrett turbo. Motor wasnt running right when the kid bought it but that was do to a cracked piston which he replaced with new rings. He said everything else internally looks like new. Now the body of the car isnt in the greatest shaped but really just needs painted. There isnt any dents or rust. Needs a set of taillights(which i have) and a passenger side mirror. So that being said, i was wondering what you guys thought? Would this be a good purchase? The kid is asking $2200 for it. I think its a good start, with a few new parts, Engine Management, and a tune i think it will be a solid street car to run around in for fun. Let me know what you guys think |

That's a good price. IMO with a low price like that hopefully it don't come with many small headaches here and there. |

$2200 is a good price, but it just sucks that it's an R title. That just means that no matter what you do that title is going to haunt you. If you plan on reselling it eventually....find something with a clean title. There's a EBP Si for sale in Pittsburgh for $5000 and it's mint. Just shows the variation. |
