I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

apple ipod?

Post by .saint » December 25, 2004

anyone have one? put up a review in the review forum. im debating weather to get one next week or not. im looking at the 40gig (10,000song) one. mostly to clean up my computer's D:/ folder full of 5,000+ mp3's

im just kinda curious if its worth the 400 bucks. (im a music whore i imagine it is)
also im kinda curious.. they make a car jack but it uses a/v cables... that hooks into an aftermarket cd player or whatever. im running a stock civic SI player. kinda curious if anyone knows if there is a way to rig up the civic si player to work w/the ipod?

i might have to grab an old school tape player and one of those tape things for portable players.

If you're going to do that you can always use an FM modulator and just tune the radio to the iPod, that's how I ran my XM for a long time, till I hard-wired it in.

Of course, nothing will sound as nice as hard-wired.

yeah i was going to get the 'itune' it plugs into the ipod and transmits it to the fm stations. it has some good reviews.

with a hard wire. did you splice your speaker wires on your radio wire harness and wire in some rca plugs?

I know XM comes with a kit that wires directly to the head unit. That's what I got.

Probably the same with the ipod, but I'm not sure.

i been reading up on those freeipod.com sites, they are totally legit... only problem is trying to get referals... if i knew i could get 10 people to sign up for the shit.. i would apply.

i might bribe people.. give them 10 bucks to sign up for someting to i can get my ipod. so instead of paying 400 for an ipod i would only be paying 100. my buddy jordan got a 20gig ipod from http://www.freeipods.com its legit i seen the ipod he got it totally free... they have http://www.freephotoipods.com as well and thats a 40gig photo ipod. man that would be fucking awesome to get but u need 10 referrals and thats a bitch freeipods.com u only need 5.

if people are willing to work together i we could all get some ipods. *shrug* sign up for the free trial shit the most u pay is shipping. like 6 bucks. i dunno im not trying to scam everyone sorry. but after see'n jordans ipod and knowing its legit i want one... real bad.

i have a 3rd gen. 40gb!
well worth the money, at least for me because i'm a "music whore".
i use it all the time, work, home, car.. and i have an aftermarket head unit, so i got the SIK IMP, which is connected through the AUX out. my boyfriend has a mini, and he uses the itrip? (the fm modulator) and it's alright, but it doesn't sound as good as mine. and in our area, he has no trouble getting a clear reception!

my pod rocks, but i am obsessed with it! (i even named her... PunkPod) ha ha ha

my bf bought me one a few weeks back... it's the 20gig. i put all of the songs off my desktop and laptop on it, as well as from most of the cds in one of my cd cases, and i think i still have under 2 gigs of music lol...

anyway, my bf has two of them now as well. he has an alpine headunit in the s2k, and purchased the U2 special edition ipod to keep in the s2k, since it would match the interior better, and has it hooked into the headunit.

just browse around the apple site for hookups into other headunits. i'm going to be just getting the cassette adapter i think to use mine in the sol (since the cd changer in there sucks).

Hey man... remember I was telling you about my friends iTrip?
Well I listened to it again in my moms car and it was pretty much cd quality, no crackles or anything.
My friend was saying it depends how good your antenna is, because it projects the signal to it, and the antenna in my car is broken off so it crackled occasionally and stuff.
But in my moms car it sounded really good, and it also had damn good range, like he got out of the car and walked a good 4 - 5 car lengths away and it still sounded good.
So if you were on a little convoy with some friends they could all tune in and listen 8)

yeah, we did that, my boyfriend was messing with his mini, and we had 3 cars following us, and we had them all tune it to the station, and they said they heard it clear! :D
